What is A Waste Transfer Station?

Nolan Recycling’s Waste Transfer Station is a pivotal hub in the waste management process. We receive waste from local collection vehicles, weigh and document it, then proceed to sort, recycle, and consolidate materials into larger loads for onward transport, maximising efficiency and minimising environmental impact.

In essence, it’s a complete system ensuring that waste is managed effectively, safely, and sustainably with controlled protocols and procedures to minimise environmental impact

How Does It Work?

The process includes:

01

WASTE ARRIVES

02

IT IS WEIGHED

03

HAND SORTED

04

SHIPPED TO RECYCLING CENTRES

Weigh & Record

Every incoming load is weighed using our on‑site weighbridge. This provides accurate data essential for compliant Waste Transfer Notes and enables transparent reporting.

Offload & Screen

Waste is unloaded and undergoes careful on-site hand sorting. Contaminants and hazardous materials are removed, and recyclable content is separated into clean, high-quality streams.

Process, Compact & Forward

“Materials such as wood, cardboard & plastic are baled or compacted and forwarded to specialist reprocessors.

Supporting the Circular Economy

Consolidation allows for fewer, fuller load movements via larger vehicles, which translates to lower transport costs, reduced carbon emissions, and improved safety and compliance.
